What is the Road Plan?
The 5-Year Plan…
Fixes Roads
- Generates funds over 5 years to repair local streets.
- Resurfaces and rebuilds roads, curbs, and gutters.
- Invests in badly needed storm water systems to drain water and reduce future maintenance costs.
Invest in
Machesney Park:
- 36 miles of roads will be rebuilt and repaired.
- A penny-on-a-dollar will generate $2.5 to 3 million per year for roads.
- Drainage systems will be built in the southern portion of the village.
- Neighborhoods will be revitalized, jobs created, and economic opportunity will increase.
Fair for all Machesney Park Residents

Sales tax does not apply to groceries, medicine, or titled vehicles.
Reduces burden on residents by having non-residents who use our roads pay a share of the costs. About 35% of sales income in Machesney Park is from nonresidents.
5-year sunset clause allows residents to decide whether to retain the sales tax, lower it, or eliminate it. All revenue goes directly for road repairs. State law prevents using it for anything else.
